The Electrical Safety Regulations
At The Sofa Shop, we take our compliance with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994 very seriously. We are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet the highest safety standards and that our customers can have confidence in the safety and quality of our sofas.
To ensure compliance with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994, we take the following steps:
1. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure that all of the electrical components used in our sofas meet the relevant safety standards, including BS EN 60335-1, which covers the safety of household and similar electrical appliances, and BS EN 60598-1, which covers the safety of luminaires.
2. All of our sofas are CE marked, which is a declaration by the manufacturer that the equipment complies with all applicable EU regulations, including the LVD. The CE mark must be affixed to the product and also to the accompanying documentation such as the user manual.
3. We keep detailed technical documentation and a Declaration of Conformity (DoC) as evidence of compliance, which contains all the information about the product, the standards applied and the results of the tests performed, and make it available to the authorities upon request.
4. Our sofas undergo regular safety checks and testing to ensure that they continue to comply with all relevant regulations, including the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994.
5. We have a strict quality control process in place to ensure that all of our sofas are of the highest quality and meet all safety requirements before they are shipped to our customers.
By taking these steps, we can ensure that all of our sofas are compliant with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994 and that our customers can have confidence in the safety and quality of our products. We are committed to ensuring that our sofas meet the highest safety standards and that our customers can have peace of mind knowing that they have purchased a safe, high-quality product from The Sofa Shop.
Who does the EES regulation apply to?
To all manufacturers, importers, distributors and suppliers of electrical equipment intended for use within certain voltage limits in the UK. This includes electrical components in sofas, as well as other types of electrical equipment. The regulations require that all electrical equipment must be safe and comply with relevant British and European standards. It is the responsibility of these parties to ensure that the equipment they supply meets the safety requirements.
